The Workshop

In this jewelry making workshop, you’ll spend a week with a small group of other metalsmiths learning all about working with gold from an expert Florentine goldsmith. Not only that, we’ll also privately tour one of Florence’s famous museums, taste the world renowned wines of Chianti on a private tour or get your hands into some pasta dough in a cooking class, and eat scrumptious food.

Since 2016, the Metalsmiths in Florence Workshop has welcomed jewelry makers from all over the world to join us for this spectacular experience.

  • Florence, Italy. The birthplace of the Italian Renaissance. Immerse yourself in the rich artistic Florentine culture, savor fresh cuisine, taste Tuscan wine. Explore the wonders of Florence with its ancient architecture, world-famous art, and stunning scenery. Breathe in the fragrant air as you live-like-a-local in one of the oldest neighborhoods of Florence.

  • All about Keum Boo

You’ll learn all about making and fusing your own Keum Boo sheet (an ancient Korean technique) as well as alloying your own 18k gold... from prepping your crucible to melting and pouring your molten gold into an ingot. You'll fabricate your own pendant base, add your Keum Boo elements and then move on to how to form and make a bezel for your cabochon stone. You’ll come away from this workshop with a boat load of information to take you to higher levels in your jewelry making.

No gold experience is necessary for this workshop, that’s why we are here!

  • Margherita - Florentine to the core, she is the studio owner, accomplished goldsmith, instructor, and designated translator of any Italian words that we don’t know ;)

Monica - Metalsmith, co-instructor, host, and organizer of this workshop and the person that makes sure your time in Florence is amazing, fun, memorable, and hopefully life-changing!
